• Our Mission

RESEARCH to further understand the diseases and genetic disorders that afflict all dogs and Golden Retrievers in particular.

RESCUE to foster and promote the rehabilitation and placement of displaced Golden Retrievers into permanent homes.

EDUCATION to promote and assist with educational materials about Golden Retrievers.

The Golden Retriever Foundation® funds activities that promote and assist the development, publication and dissemination of educational materials about the proper care, treatment, breeding, health, development and training of Golden Retrievers.

We also actively seek opportunities to fund health studies that further the understanding of diseases, genetic defects, injuries and other ailments that afflict dogs in general and Golden Retrievers in particular.

Each year more than 8,000 displaced Goldens who are abandoned, abused, left in pounds or turned in by owners are lovingly cared for and placed in adoptive homes by nearly 100 Golden Retriever Rescue organizations throughout the country.

There are three separate but linked GRF Funds that specifically support Goldens in need.

Volunteer-driven rescue groups often need financial support for such things as extraordinary veterinary expenses incurred on behalf of individual dogs including those who may have been rescued from puppy mills. The April Fund addresses this need.

Through this fund, we will provide reimbursement of costs for transport of senior and some special circumstances dogs from one area of the country to another.

In addition to financial support for veterinary care, rescue organizations often need help covering legal start-up costs, equipment, kennels, and public education. Donations to the Rescue Fund help to make all aspects of rescue work move forward smoothly.

How You Can Help!
  • If you’ve ever held a Golden puppy, shared a special Golden moment, gone for a walk with your Golden companion, been touched by a sweet sugar faced Golden oldie, you should be a GRF supporter!
  • If your life has been enriched by the presence of a wonderful dog in whose honor, or in whose memory, we ask that you contribute to the Golden Retriever Foundation®
  • As a breeder, consider donating a certain amount per puppy sold, per stud fee, per show or performance test win.
