the GRF also has joined other breed clubs under the aegis of the
Canine Health Fund in the sponsorship of twenty research studies.
Studies on cancer have been funded through the Zeke Cancer Research
Fund. Others have been supported through the General/Health Fund.
These have included studies on the following medical issues found
in the Golden Retriever community:
Sub-aortic stenosis;
tumor suppressors; hypothyroidism; hemangiosarcomas; lymphosarcomas;
osteosarcomas; soft tissue sarcomas; histiocytosis; angiogenesis,
mast cell genes; chemotherapy on brain tumors; genome markers; blastomycosis;
and swallowing disorders.
We look forward
to presenting details of some of these studies on our website in
the future. Stay tuned!
